About the Royal Society of St. George
The aim of the Society is to foster the love of England and strengthen
ties with the English by spreading the knowledge of our history, traditions
and ideals. We strive to further English interests every where and to provide
focal points where English men, women and their friends may gather together
in a sociable environment. We maintain a strong programme of support for
various Indonesian charities and worthy causes. The society has been thriving
in Jakarta for over 25 years. At the end of the day, the society manages
a social calendar for individuals, visitors, family residents and long-term
residents to meet in a comfortable environment to share ideas, laughs and
support.
Events
The society runs 3 key events per year, The first in the calendar
is the St George’s Ball which falls in the 3rd week of April and celebrates
St George’s Day (23rd April). This is followed after the Summer break
with slightly more formal dinner in the 3rd week of October, in celebration
of the Battle of Trafalgar (21st October). At the end of year we hold a
members games night called the Christmas Island Night. Pub
nights are on the Second Friday of each month, usually starting at 7:00
– 7:30 PM at The Eastern Promise. (Also known as Napolina, Kemang
Raya on same side as Kem Chicks). There is no admission fee and non-members
are welcome. Generally includes a quiz and Bingo.
