Membership

Membership is open to all nationalities. At present, we have approximately 80 members who are mainly Canadian women, although everyone - male or female - who has an interest in Canada and Canadian affairs is welcome to join. Membership entitles a person to receive a monthly newsletter, membership directory, and discounts at Coffee Mornings.

Most activities are conducted in English.

About CWA

Our purpose is to encourage a sense of community as Canadian citizens in Jakarta, to offer social activities for the Canadian community, to provide support for newcomers and to contribute to social development needs in Indonesia.

Regular monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. Doors open at 9:00AM with the meeting commencing at 10:00AM. Both members and non-members are welcome, a small fee is charged. Vendors, Guest Speakers and Raffle Prizes generally available.

Activities are announced by Email, here on the website and at coffee mornings.

Activities

Some of the regular events are:

Monthly Coffee Mornings: Every month we get together and have a speaker over a coffee and light snack. Often we have a few local venders and the Used Books are there to look through. It is a great place to meet people and a perfect place to ask questions about expat life in Jakarta.

Great Canadian Event: In the spring before everyone leaves for the summer, CWA always puts on a great event, whether it be Gala or Stampede Party or a totally new idea. We'll keep everyone informed as plans develop.

Thanksgiving Dinner - October: Enjoy a Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings in October!

Christmas Luncheon - December: A chance to relax while having a traditional Christmas Dinner. Very highly attended and rated last year. Details will be announced when venue is confirmed.

Art Exhibition: Usually held in late April or early May, this annual event gives the opportunity to buy some great art work from artist Ken Pattern. Ken's Art Exhibitions attract a great cross section of international buyers and is unique and interesting each year. This event also is a great fund raiser for our Social Development Group. CWA members help with Opening Day Sales and in return are given a generous portion of sales.

There is a whole host of other activities that are planned from month to month. We also offer a variety of groups that you can get involved in: Social Development, Tours, etc. We are always open to new suggestions, as long as we have volunteers to help us organize these events.

When you join the CWA, get involved and make new friends and you will have a rewarding stay in Jakarta.
