Membership is open to all nationalities.  Our members are mainly Canadian women, although everyone - male or female - who has an interest in Canada and/or Canadian affairs is welcome to join.  Membership entitles a person to receive a newsletter, the membership directory and exclusive attendance or a discount at some activities.  Most activities are conducted in English.  At present, membership fees are 200,000 rupiah per year and the year runs from September 1 to August 31. You can register online. Go to the Membership Tab and click on membership form. Payment can be made at an event.

About CWA

Our purpose is to encourage a sense of community as Canadian citizens in Jakarta, to offer social activities for the Canadian community, to provide support for newcomers and to contribute to social development needs in Indonesia.

Activities

There is a whole host of activities that are planned from month to month. We also offer a variety of groups that you can get involved with such as the Social Development group and groups that organize tours, luncheons/dinners and bazaars to name a few.  We are always open to popular new event suggestions as long as we have volunteers to help us organize them.

Monthly Coffee Mornings

These meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.  Both members and non-members are welcome, with a small fee charged to non-members.  Often coffee mornings are organized at a member's house. Vendors may be invited to display goods of interest to our members, or guest speakers present to share tips or travel information.  Raffle prizes are arranged, with the proceeds going to support CWA's Social Development projects.  From time to time, coffee mornings take place at coffee shops.  Activities are announced at coffee mornings as well as by email and on the website.  Coffee mornings are a great place to meet people, discuss upcoming events and a perfect place to ask questions about expatriate life in Jakarta.

Thanksgiving Dinner (October)

Enjoy a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Christmas Luncheon (December)

Take in an opportunity for an enjoyable celebration with fellow Canadians at a traditional Christmas Lunch.  This event is very highly rated and well attended.

Great Canadian Event (Spring)

Every (Canadian) spring, the CWA organizes a great event to celebrate the new season.  Past events have included a gala, a stampede party, an Easter Brunch and a Champagne Luncheon in celebration of Mothers Day.

CWA Ken Pattern Art Exhibition (April 26th to May 22nd, 2010)

This annual event offers the opportunity to buy some great art work from artist Ken Pattern. . Ken's unique and interesting art exhibitions attract a great cross section of international buyers. This event is also a great fund raiser for our Social Development Group. CWA members help with opening day sales and in return, are given a generous percentage of the sales proceeds.
